Here are a few of my most recent hat creations–all are made with recycled fabrics. So. I’m working towards stocking my etsy shop — it’s looking rather bare right now. Watch for new things to come. In the meantime, to see what I’ve made (and sold) in the past you can click here.

This clutch bag is so soft and feels good to the touch. That’s why I left it as a clutch…as opposed to adding a long crossbody strap. It’s now on display at Urban Sassafras (in Springfield, Il), but can also be purchased through my etsy shop itzachicthing.etsy.com if I know about interest. Just let me know. It measures 7-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ and has a back zippered pocket.
Here are a couple of bags that were created using the fused plastic bag technique. This is the original process that I used when I opened my etsy shop, itzaChicThing.etsy.com
Over the years, my style evolved to include more recycled fabrics, instead of plastic. Thought I would try it out again, after looking back at some of my photos and thinking that they had a different kind of interesting look. Here are a couple of new creations, in the old style.
I started experimenting with making hats when I found a set of wooden hat forms at an estate sale. They’re created free-form, bricolage style by layering fabrics, molding, cutting, stitching until I get the look that I want. I love the way this one turned out, it’s one of my favorites. It sold at a local event where I set up my upcycled vendor cart…here’s a photo of the cart:

A fire in the wood burner is keeping me cozy as I recharge…straightening up the chaos in my studio and daydreaming…thinking thinking thinking. Got my new business cards yesterday. I used a photo of one of my favorite painted canvas upcycled bags….I think this one went Florida’s way this past year. (contact info is printed on the back)

Ok, I LOVE THIS! Have to find a spot to make one for Max (and soon to be, Morgan) I found it on https://www.facebook.com/RepurposedThings page and followed it to this blog post: http://www.thehandmadehome.net/2013/02/a-no-sew-teepee/
Still making some stocking stuffers for the holidays. Here’s one of the headbands I’ve completed. I’ll have it in my etsy shop later today. Itzachicthing.etsy.com
