My quirky 3-D portraits are crafted using salvaged barn wood, recycled materials, and oil paint sticks. With expressive eyes and a quote or lyric imprinted in their mouths (using a leather stamping tool) each one has a message to deliver.

Had a couple of fun days at the Market Days event. It was the first time I’ve taken my crazy board people art out on the road. The response I got was great and I’m ready to get back to work in my studio to replenish my inventory. My first commitment is to finish a custom jacket order though, then I can switch gears.

It’s something new that I’m doing to break the “spell”. Mixed media assemblage art with a story. Old boards, all kinds of recycled materials (and some oil paint sticks that I found hiding in my studio) got me out of the uninspired mode I was in.
Their expressions are all unique and their “stories” (quotes that I find while looking for inspiration) are hand-hammered into the wood and painted.
